Come and Have Fun at the Woodcock Valley Sportsmen's Club!

The Woodcock Valley Sportsmen's Club offers shooting and hunting experiences for all ages! Nestled in the heart of the Woodcock Valley at the base of Tussey Mountain, the club offers thirteen acres of relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere for sportsmen.  The club offers shotgun and rifle ranges, competitive shotgun matches, and organized hunts for raccoon, rabbits, and predators.  The Woodcock Valley Sportsmen's Club is affiliated with the Blue Knob Coon Hunters.

Spring Shotgun Matches 

 

For the first time ever, Woodcock Valley Sportsmen is going to hold a mini series of six, spring shotgun matches.  Just like their big brother in the fall, these petite spring matches will follow the same format.  The matches will start on Friday, April 17 and continue through Friday, May 22, 2015.

4th Annual Coyote and Fox Hunt 

 The 4th Annual Predator Hunt was held January 30 through February 1, 2015.  It was a cold and bitter weekend as 122 hunters took to the woods to harvest 6 coyotes, 2 grey fox, and 5 red fox.  You can read more about the hunt in the news article, "2015 Predator Hunt Results" and see photos in the photo album, Coyote and Fox Hunt 2015

 The 4th Annual Predator Hunt will be held January 30 through February 1, 2015.  You can get your registration form on-line or register in person at the Woodcock Valley Sportsmen's Club On Thursday, January 29 from 5 to 9 p.m.

Shotgun Matches

Shotgun matches for the 2014 season will start on Friday, September 5 and run through Friday, November 28.  Matches will start at 7:30 p.m.  The kitchen will open each evening at 6:00 p.m. and will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, french fries, cheese sticks, chicken nuggets, cake, chips, candy bars, soda, water, coffee, and other items.  

 

Each match will consist of 10 regular meat rounds and a jackpot round.  The last Friday of each month, September 26, October 31, and November 28, will feature a special Elk Match with four elk prizes.  The elk meat will be cut, wrapped, and frozen.    

 

Shooters will have a chance to enter a cash give-a-way each night they shoot beginning on the first night.  The drawing will be held on Friday, November 28, and the winners must be present to win.

 

The Woodcock Valley Sportsmen's Club offers a family friendly atmosphere where families can gather each Friday evening.  There is indoor space for eating, conversing, and getting warm near the wood stove.  The shooters will also keep dry on rainy evenings with our covered shooting line.

Annual Meeting and Membership Banquet - Friday, January 3, 2014 - 6:00 p.m.

All members are invited to attend the annual meeting.  There will be a potluck dinner for members and their families.  Please bring a covered dish or two to share.  We will also be holding the traditional big buck contest for adults and juniors.  Come and enjoy the fun!

SHOTGUN MATCHES - 2013

 

The shotgun matches will be starting again on Friday, September 6 at 7:30 p.m. and will run every Friday through November 29.  The last Friday of each month will be a special shoot featuring elk, valued at over $300 per prize.

 The shotgun range has been newly revised, and will have a fresh new look this season!  Here is a teaser photo...there is still more work to do!

 

The menu for the kitchen has also been expanded and offers an affordable solution to a Friday evening meal for the entire family.

The second annual predator hunt was held February 1-3, 2013.  107 hunters entered, and 12 bagged a total of 28 red and grey foxes.  The winners were:

  • Paul Kunkel - Second Place - 12.8 lb.
  • Aaron Greene - Third Place - 12.6 lb. 
  • Thomas Dunchack - Fourth Place - 12.2 lb.
  • Thomas Dunchack - Fifth Place - 11.0 lb.
  • Steve Bobby - Sixth Place - 10.8 lb. 

 

 

 

Grey Fox

 

  • Robert Houck - First Place - 11.4 lb.
  • Dave Tracy - Second Place - 11.2 lb.
  • Jay R. Fagans, II - Third Place - 11.0 lb.
  • Jay R. Fagans, II and Dave Tracy - Tie for Fourth/Fifth Place - 10.6 lb.
  • Matt Plummer and Brett Elbin - Tie for Sixth Place - 10.4 lb.

 

 

Since no coyotes were harvested, the club increased the prize money for all places and gave away three extra places in each of the fox categories.  The total prize awards were $1,510.00.

 The annual member's banquet will be held on Friday, January 4, 2013.  All members are welcome, and are asked to bring a dish or two for the potluck dinner.  Guests are welcome to but, are asked to pay $5 each.

2012 Shotgun Matches

We concluded the 2012 shotgun matches on November 23 with over 60 shooters at our last match of the season.  4 lucky shooters walked away with boxes of beef.  We also gave away cash prizes to shooters who attended 6 or more matches.  The winners were:

The first annual Groundhog Hunt was held on Saturday, June 9, 2012.  Winner's were:So

 

  • Scott Ayers, first place with 10.2 lbs.
  • Greg Smyers, second place with 9.0 lbs.
  • Greg Smyers, thrid place with 8.8 lbs.
  • Greg Smyers, winner of overall most groundhogs with 10!

The first annual Coyote and Fox Hunt was held February 3-5, 2012.  There were 61 registered hunters.  No coyotes were harvested, but hunters bagged thirteen foxes.  The foxes ranged from 8 to 14 lb. Since no coyotes were weighed in, the fox payouts were increased and two prize places were added.  All of the winning foxes were gray.  The winners were:

  • 1st Place - $140 - 14.00 lb. - Matt Rakar and his hunting partner, Jared Goss
  • 2nd Place - $100 - 11.4 lb. - Scott Ayers
  • 3rd Place - $80 - 11.2 lb. - Bill Campbell
  • 4th Place - $40 - 10.6 lb. - Jairus Sheffield
  • 5th Place - $40 - 10.4 lb. - Steve Bobby

The annual membership banquet was held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the club.  Members in attendance and their guests enjoyed a wonderful potluck meal, member's meeting, raffle, and fun fellowship.   New officers and directors include:  Rick Isett, Raymond Morningstar, Deb Riley, Donald Enyeart, Paul Fisher, William Brumbaugh, Steve Ayers, Brian Riley, and Adam Russell.  Members decided to host their first-ever, but hopefully annual, Predator's Hunt in February 2012.  The winner of the big buck contest was member Bill Becker.
